A recruitment agency wishes to set up a personalised job search, CV, email, diary and address book service for job seekers. As well as being available on the web, they would like users to have access via wireless devices. They also want to include an SMS alert service.

Users create a profile by choosing a username and password. They then specify what types of jobs they are looking for, where they wish the job to be located and what kind of salary they are looking for. They can also upload and edit their CV, create a 'job-seeking' address book, use the on-line interview diary tool and have a specific 'recruitment' email address where they can send and receive employment details.

All this information can be viewed and edited via a wireless device such as a WAP phone or a PDA. For instance, Anne has registered with the job site and created a personalised profile specifying her exact requirements. A new vacancy matching her profile has just been added to the recruitment database. An SMS is sent immediately to Anne to notify her of the vacancy. At the same time an email containing full details of the position are sent to her email. Anne then logs into her personal recruitment page using her WAP phone and reads the email detailing the position. As she is interested in the position, she sends an email to her personal 'Recruitment Consultant' to indicate that she is interested in the position. This automatically submits her CV for evaluation.

The next day Anne receives another SMS message to inform her that she has an interview. She logs in to her personal profile page once again to read the corresponding email using her WAP phone. The interview date suggested is convenient for Anne, so she enters the interview date and time into her online diary, as well as entering the prospective employer's contact details into her address book.

The morning of the interview, Anne receives an SMS message to remind her that she has an appointment that day. On her way to her interview she gets stuck in tailbacks on the motorway. As soon as she realises that she may be late, she uses her WAP phone to access her profile page and retrieve the contact details of her prospective employer. She is then able to forewarn her interviewer that she may be late.
